Q: What does Portage Music Lessons Teach? A:We teach Guitar, Piano, Voice, Bass, Ukulele, Drums, Violin, Viola, Flute, Cello, Clarinet, Piccolo, Oboe, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Banjo, Mandolin and more!
Q:What are the cost of lessons? A:We do not post prices online because we like to talk to our students on the phone that way we have a better understanding of what they need before we tell them a price. We also regularly run specials and have different things going to encourage people to do lessons with us!
Q:What do I need to start lessons? A: Generally you will just need to have an instrument that is in good working order. Other than that we have everything provided that you will need to get started. We do have loaner instruments you may be able to use, if they are not already out on loan.
Q:Do you offer bi-weekly lessons? A:We are not currently taking in anymore biweekly lessons because they generally are hard to find someone else to take the other spot. It is hard for teachers and students to keep track of.
Q:What forms of payment do you take? A:Cash, Check, Credit Card, Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay
Q:Do I have the same lesson time each week? A: Yes. Spots are weekly and we generally don’t differ from this. You may be asked to trade with another student for a different time but we try to give you 48 hours notice if someone needs to trade spots. We can bounce people if you have a crazy schedule but we try to make that the exception not the rule.
Q:If I miss a lesson, how do i make it up? A:All missed lessons need to be made up within 2 weeks of the missed date. If they are not made up you lose the lesson credit. Lessons are a flat rate per month, think of it as a dance or gymnastics plan, you pay a flat price if you use all your credits are not.
Q:Do you offer auto billing? A:Yes we offer auto billing. It is very easy to set up and we are slowly working on getting everybody moved over to auto billing.
Q:Is there a late fee for late payments? A:There is a $20 fee for all payments 14 days late. This must be paid before you are able to continue lessons. If a student is present week 3 with no payment the lesson will be refused.

All lessons are broken into 4 lesson blocks. We have 48 teaching weeks and 4 off weeks. You are only charged for 48 lessons per year, you are NOT charged for the 4 off weeks. Some months technically have 5 lessons and some months may only have 3 but with this system you just always pay for 4 lessons at a time.
Generally our schedule is 12 weeks on and 1 week off. For the holidays we have two consecutive weeks off for everyone to spend time with their loved ones!
In the event you start mid-month for paid lessons, your first month will be prorated to get you in sync with payweeks.
All lesson payments are due no later than the 20th of each month. All payments later than the 20th of the pay cycle month without an arrangement with billing will incur a $10 fee per week.
All holiday closure dates, student or teacher illness will be made up within one calendar month. If for whatever reason the teacher does not make up the lesson within a month you will not be charged/will be given a future lesson credit. If you do not make up a lesson within one month then the credit is no longer valid.
If a student no calls no shows for a lesson, they will be charged.
If a student is more than a month behind a payment the instructor will refuse the lesson until the student is paid up including late fees.
If you are planning on discontinuing lessons, temporarily or permanently, please give your teacher at minimum a two week notice.
For payment we take cash, check, credit card, paypal, cash app, venmo and apple pay.
Anyone with an auto billing invoice will have a $5 surcharge on top of the regular lesson fees.
